Housed in Pasadena’s historic1935 Del Mar station, La Grande Orange Café is a testament to American cooking done really well. The menu is created each day with fresh and honest ingredients. La Grande Orange has always emphasized, fresh, organic and seasonal even before it became cool to talk about. The only freezer space holds house made gelato and ice cream.
The menu showcases La Grande Orange Café’s ability to bring together big flavors with the most organic and fresh ingredients. The cooking takes accessible and commonly loved classics and brings them to a new level with a modern point of view. The cooking is fairly simple with a clear direction and done from the heart. Culturally, Bob’s philosophy is to just help great ingredients reach their full potential.
Home to their famous brussel sprout salad with bacon, young manchego, dried cranberries and marcona almonds, LGO also showcases signature soft taco platters. They use premium cuts of meat and fish, organic vegetables for vegetarians and tortillas that are always made to order. Other favorites include: classic deviled eggs, shrimp ceviche and ‘New Style’ sashimi---a choice of yellowtail, ahi tuna in a chile ponzu sauce. Entrees range from Fine Fresh Fish dishes like Crisp Acqua Pazza to Roasted Organic Chicken with sautéed spinach and handmade spatzle and a great selection of. For fun and decadence LGO offers their Dixie Pan Fried Chicken, a southern classic that promises to bring you to your knees.
Brunch includes what regulars consider the best huevos rancheros in Southern California; a combination of organic eggs homemade ranchero sauce and built on a cheese quesadilla.More brunch specials include lemon ricotta hotcakes and classic eggs benedict. Don’t forget a signature cheeseburger with homemade hand cut French fries as well as Bob’s famous French dip sandwich made with prime rib.
